WEEE Regulations 2007
In its capacity as a Producer of electronic and electrical business promotional gift items, Hambleside has become one of the first gift houses to register under the new Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment regulations (WEEE). These regulations were introduced into the UK in January 2007 and apply to all companies importing, manufacturing or re-branding this type of equipment.
Hambleside takes its environmental responsibilities very seriously and by registering under the scheme it is committed to providing its customers with an end of life recovery service for this class of product.
The purpose behind the legislation is to reduce the amount of electrical material sent to landfill; currently it is estimated that over 2 million tonnes of electrical and electronic products simply goes to landfill in the UK every year – a staggering figure and one which represents a huge waste of resource.
WEEE will also affect any organisation that uses, sells, treats or disposes of these products to the end user (business) or consumer (individual) who is going to use it, and in that capacity they would be classed under the new Regulations as a Distributor. The subject is complex and consequently it is recommended that all organisations purchasing electrical or electronic items should be conversant with the requirements of the legislation.

In order to provide a responsible service for customers in meeting the obligations of WEEE, Hambleside is working in conjunction with Econo-Weee Limited, a specialist Company able to ensure compliance with this legislation, including the provision of product collection services throughout the UK.
All electrical or electronic products supplied by Hambleside and which fall under WEEE will carry the recycling logo, a wheeled bin logo and date mark, a black bar.
