The Hambleside group is very conscious of the need for all organisations to respond to the need to combat climate change and reduce carbon emissions. The Group has already taken many steps to reduce emissions and landfill and has substantially reduced its carbon footprint as a result.
The Group’s manufacturing operations in Inverness and Daventry are carbon negative and independently verified by the dcarbon8 organisation in London.
Measures undertaken by the Group’s manufacturing plant at Inverness in 2006, resulted in its carbon emissions being reduced by 24%. As from the end of February 2007 the operations at Inverness are powered by totally green energy supplied by the Green Energy Company. This will see a further reduction in carbon emissions in excess of 40 tonnes of CO2 per annum. The Waterlooville based operations for Hambleside Business Gift Solutions Limited will be in a similar position by the Autumn of 2007.
The Group won a Queen’s Award for Innovation: Enterprise in 2006 for its Insulator rooflight product which is designed to specifically reduce carbon emissions from industrial and warehouse style buildings.
There is an increasing range of promotional gifts items which are made from recycled materials.
